Tracking Services
Truck Tracks, the leading
supplier of trucking industry advertising tracking services, introduced a
new service in 2004 to assist truck OEM's better monitor their company's
editorial share of voice among industry trade publications. To bring
this new service to market in 2004, we began data entry in January 2003 for
all Class 3-8 truck OEM PR material appearing in the key trade magazines we
monitor for the Truck Tracks Advertising Tracking Service.
The sample Acrobat format report, available through the link below, shows
the collected PR data categorized by OEM, magazine, PR classification,
narrative description of published material, magazine date of issue, page
and folio where material appeared, an indicator of whether a photo was used
and if it was four color, the size of the item (space) and the equivalent ad
dollar value. The data is compiled by magazine and totaled by the
truck OEM. A dollar value component is recorded for each item
appearing in a magazine based on the equivalent display ad space cost for
the specific magazine and item size. The custom report format can be
modified to compile data using any of the primary field criteria of the
database. The raw data can be provided in Excel format, which can then
be sorted and summarized by all primary criteria.
The unique methodology used in our new Truck Tracks Public Relations
Tracking Service is meant to provide truck OEM's a means of quantifying
their public/press relations activities, as well as provide a tool to
evaluate how individual magazines respond to their PR efforts and those of
their competitors. We do not track non-PR related editorial "mentions"
or "references" to an OEM's tradename. Our service is primarily geared
toward quantitatively measuring the end result of a truck OEM's product,
personnel and literature releases to the industry trade press, coverage of
press conferences, facility tours, ride and drives, product specs, etc.
Only magazine articles or items equal to 1/8 page size or greater are
entered into our database for tracking and reporting purposes.
Information quoted from named truck OEM management sources is generally
picked up regardless of item size.
Truck Tracks currently provides trucking industry specific advertising
tracking services to all domestic Class 8 truck OEM's, many major component
and service suppliers, as well as the industry's leading trade magazine
